Bisher ist mir die Marke TIGI zwar ein Begriff gewesen, jedoch habe ich den Produkten keine besondere Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt. Eher zufällig (durch eine Sale Aktion bei Feelunique) wurde ich dann etwas neugierig. Douglas bringt das Shampoo/Conditioner Duo in den 750ml Pumpspendern immerhin für den stolzen Preis von 32€ an den Man(n). Im Zuge der Sale Aktion habe ich etwas über 20€ dafür gezahlt. Überzeugt haben mich neben der Ersparnis von über 10€ letztendlich die durchweg positiven Reviews im Internet. Das Duo gibt vor ein all-round Talent zu sein, so wird auf der offiziellen Seite mit folgendem geworben:
Sulfatfrei, Farbschutz, Volumen, Glanz, spendet Feuchtigkeit und repariert das Haar.
I had heard about the brand TIGI but I had never tried their products so far! Until a few month ago there was a sale at feelunique where I saw this Shampoo and Conditioner Duo for $24 instead of the regular price (here in Germany) $39. Since this specific Shampoo/Conditioner from TIGI Bed Head got such good reviews throughout the internet I thought I'd give it a try.
On the official website they advertise this sulfate-free Shampoo for thick massive hair. It is supposed to add volume, body and shine, moisturize and repair as well as protect your fair from color loss.
Verpackung:
Als ich das Duo das erste Mal in den Händen hielt, gefiel mir vor allem der Pumpspender. Das ist besonders in Anbetracht der Größe der Behälter sehr praktisch. Ich habe lange Haare und benötige 1-2 Pumpstöße bei Shampoo und Conditioner. Man kommt also eine ganze Weile mit dem Duo aus. 750ml sind beim Shampoo 3x mehr als bei handelsüblichen Shampoos und beim Conditioner sind es sogar mehr als 3x soviel. Damit wär ich auch schon beim nächsten + Punkt. Shampoo und Conditioner kommen in der gleichen Menge daher (BEIDE 750ml). Ich benötige in etwa gleichviel Shampoo wie Conditoner wenn nicht sogar mehr Conditoner als Shampoo und daher ärgere ich mich des öfteren darüber, wenn der Conditioner wie so oft üblich in 200ml und das Shampoo in 250ml verkauft wird. Am Ende habe ich immer den Conditioner leer und noch ne Menge Shampoo übrig. Da ich gerne mal beim Shampoo und Conditioner die Marke wechsle ich aber sehr ungern Shampoo und Conditioner von 2 verschiedenen Marken kombiniere, ist das wirklich ärgerlich! Lange Geschichte kurzer Sinn, darüber brauche ich mich bei dem Duo nicht zu ärgern.
Packaging:
I really like that this Duo comes in pump bottles considering the size of each bottle (25.36 fl. oz.) it is very handy to use. What I also enjoy is that the conditioner and the shampoo both contain the same amount of product. I need about as much conditioner as shampoo (1-2 pumps) and (at least in Germany) it is very common that the conditioner bottle contains less product than the shampoo bottle. This gets very annoying since I always end up with an empty conditioner bottle while I still have shampoo left. I also like to switch my shampoo and conditioner and I really can't stand using the shampoo from the one company and the conditioner from another. But maybe that's just me...? Anyway this is no problem with this Duo.
Geruch:
Im Internet wird der Geruch hoch gelobt und mit Erdbeeren verglichen. Mit hohen Erwartungen habe ich also der ersten Anwendung entgegen gesehen. Etwas enttäuscht war ich daher als insbesondere das Shampoo intensiv nach Erdbeerkaugummi roch, nicht aber nach "echten" Erdbeeren. Ich persönlich finde den Geruch etwas zu künstlich für Erdbeeren, aber wenn man mit der richtigen Erwartung an die Sache geht, ist der Geruch ok. Der Conditioner hat den gleichen Geruch ist jedoch bei weitem nicht so geruchsintensiv wie das Shampoo. Auch der Haargeruch nach der Anwendung ist etwas dezenter, was mir persönlich sehr zu sagt.
Smell:
Everybody who reviewed this shampoo seemed to love the smell of it. It is often described as strawberry scent. I therefore hat high expectations when I used it the first time. That's probably why I was a bit disappointed because in my opinion it smells rather artificial more like strawberry gum than real strawberries. But once you get used to it it's not really a bad smell. The conditioner smells a bit less intense which I personally prefer. The scent this Duo leaves in your hair is also not overpowering. :)
Wirkung:
Farbschutz und Glanz sind gut, aber nicht außergewöhnlich, auch andere Shampoos/Conditioner, die ich bisher verwendet habe, haben diesbezüglich gleiche Ergebnisse erzielt.
Ich finde die Pflege sehr gut, das Haar wird wirklich gut mit Feuchtigkeit versorgt und repariert. Manchmal habe ich leichten Spliss, seit ich dieses Shampoo verwende, habe ich gar keinen Spliss mehr. Im Winter, ist mein Haar machmal so trocken, dass es dazu neigt sich elektrisch aufzulagen, dem musste ich bisher mit der Anwendung einer Haarmilch entgegenwirken. Diesen Winter hatte ich damit ebenfalls keine Probleme.
Das Haar fühlt sich sehr weich und geschmeidig an und ist auch in der Tat etwas griffiger. Ein "Superstar" Volumen bleibt zumindest bei mir jedoch aus. Da ich aber von Natur aus eher feines Haar habe, wäre das auch sicherlich zu viel verlangt...
Ausserdem ist mir aufgefallen, dass ich nach dem Haarewaschen weniger Haare beim Kämmen und Stylen verliere als vorher.
TIGI wirbt bei diesem Duo vor allem damit, dass es Sulfatfrei ist. Sodium Laureth Sulfate sind in sehr vielen Pflegeprodukten / Kosmetika enthalten und stehen unter Verdacht krebserregend zu sein. Soweit ich weiß konnte dies jedoch bisher noch nicht wissenschaftlich bewiesen werden, weshalb ich der Sache bisher eher neutral gegenüberstehe.
Impact:
The color protection and the shine this duo provides is comparable to other shampoos and conditioners I've used before,- so nothing extraordinary here.
But I did get the feeling that this duo really nourished my hair, it felt very moisturized and there were no split ends. My hair is really soft after I use this shampoo and conditioner and it indeed also feels like this duo adds some body to my hair. I don't end up with thick massive hair...but since I have rather thin hair I guess I can't really expect that. But I felt a slight difference in the texture of my hair. It in general fells and looks really healthy! I also recognized that I had less hair loss after washing my hair with this duo.
Sulfate is a common ingredient in many beauty products, it is supposed to harm you and even to cause cancer. As far as I know this could not be scientifically proven yet. That's why I rate the fact that this shampoo/conditioner is sulfate-free rather neutral-or lets say I am probably not going to stop using all products that contain sulfate,-which would be quite a lot.
Fazit:
Alles in Allem finde ich, dass sich das Shampoo/Conditioner Duo durchaus gegenüber seiner Drogeriemarktkonkurrenz abhebt. Ob ich jedoch auf Dauer den vollen Preis von 32€ dafür ausgeben würde...vermutlich nicht. Ich werde aber sicherlich die Augen nach neuen Sale-Aktionen offen halten!
Conclusion:
I think that this shampoo and conditioner stands out from most of the products I have used to far. But I am not sure whether I would be willing to pay the full price of $39 on a regular basis...probably not....but I will for sure keep my eyes open for more sales and the big bottles should last me a while!
